So the corridor really was a dead end. No prefect's shortcut, no hidden knock on brick, no Room of Requirement waiting behind that door — the passage you followed simply doesn't exist, and never has.
In plainer terms: a 404 is what happens when your browser sends an owl to an address, and the address isn't on the map. Not "delivery refused" (that's a 403 — something behind the Restricted Section rope). Not "the owl collapsed mid-flight" (that's a 500 — something broke in the castle's plumbing on our end). A 404 just means: this room was never built, this corridor never carved, or the floor plan changed and nobody updated your copy of the map.
None of this costs your house any points. It just means: wrong staircase. Head back down and try again.
