Why a Cybersecurity Degree?
So big news, I recently switched from a diploma to a Associates Degree at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) in Moultrie, Georgia! In the past, I originally planned to pursue game development. Although, since the program isn’t offered at my school, I decided to take a different path that still challenges my problem-solving side.
Cybersecurity caught my attention because I’ve always been curious about how systems can be both built and broken—especially when it comes to ethical hacking and penetration testing. I’m hoping this program will give me a solid, formal introduction to that world.
And if I’m being honest, I also wanted a direction that could help me land a good job while continuing to grow my technical skills and creative interests.
What I’ve Learned So Far
I’m currently in my second semester of the degree (previously diploma) course. And part of that is a CompTIA Security Pro course: Information Security Fundamentals.

- Network Architecture
- Resiliency and Site Security
- Vulnerability Management
- Network and Endpoint Security
